KIRIN J CALLINAN RELEASES DUET WITH SOPHIA BROUS & LAUNCHES POZIBLE CAMPAIGN

Kirin J Callinan has released a very special duet cover of KD Lang’s ‘Constant Craving’ with Brous.

The track was premiered this morning by FasterLouder and Stereogum and intended as a wedding present for the pairs mutual friends but was never mixed in time.

Lucky for us, you can stream it now!

In other Kirin-tastic news, Kirin has set up a Pozible campaign to help get his new album JACKED and his future PUMPING.

Those that contribute to the fund can score themselves a special date with Kirin, a gym workout or a bottle of Kirin’s own ‘Chardonnay Sean’.

KIRIN J CALLINAN VIDEO PREMIERE AND TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT

Kirin J Callinan, Australia’s most charismatic and confronting musician reveals the video for his latest single ‘EMBRACISM’. The title track of his long-awaited debut, it has already drawn critical praise and intrigue from international and local media for its dangerous lyrics and intense guitar work.

Directed by Cara Stricker, the video for ‘EMBRACISM’ is an evolution from Callinan’s triple j award winning clip for song  ‘Way II War’.  It provides a challenging and intoxicating visual piece that demands attention. Daring in its physicality, it follows Callinan in his morning routine.

Catch Kirin launch the album Embracism nationally on Wednesday 26 June at Yours & Owls in Wollongong, Thursday 27 June at Terrace Bar in Newcastle, Friday 28 June at The Standard in Sydney, Saturday 29 June at The Zoo in Brisbane, Wednesday 3 July at a unique location in Melbourne, Thursday 4 July at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne, Saturday 6 July at Jive in Adelaide, Friday 19 July at The Bakery in Perth, and Saturday 20 July at Mojos in Fremantle.

KIRIN J CALLINAN MIXTAPE

A Mixtape of Incidental Instrumentals by Kirin J Callinan

“Most of these pieces were recorded after midnight & before six am. The process was, usually, to plug a guitar in direct, via a few units, to an 8 track hard disk recorder and play. I was frequently alone. When not alone I was with either Daniel Stricker, Kim Moyes, Francois Tetaz, Alice Englert, James Domeyko, Jono Ma or Chris Petro. Thank you to all concerned” – KJC

KIRIN J CALLINAN EAST COAST TOUR

On September 12th, September 15th and October 11th, Kirin takes a break.

Throws a party.

Puts on a show.

A real song and dance.

For friends and future friends.

Since those memorable sold-out nights of ballads, noise, and power failures in support of his 7 inch single ‘W II W’ and its gif-laden video directed by Kris Moyes back in June, the Moyes boys connection continues with older brother Kim now reuniting with Kirin in the studio. Having produced the first thing an (almost) innocent teenage Callinan ever recorded in a “real” studio almost a decade ago, and awaiting the release of his own third full length as one half of The Presets, Kim is once again donning the producer’s cap and the purple socks to work with Kirin on his solo debut album.

But all work and no play makes Kirin an unhappy shit. So to temporarily escape the heat of Kim’s kitchen, to get back to his natural habitat and to thank those who came out in force to those sold out shows, Kirin J Callinan will be back, out o’ the bunker, performing live again in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney on 12/09, 15/09 and 11/10 respectively.

Kirin will then leave for NY City, playing solo shows with the likes of Kindness and Blood Orange for Terrible Records.

KIRIN J CALLINAN RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE, VIDEO & EAST COAST TOUR

In alliance with Terrible Records (run by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor) of the United States of America and Siberia Records (Midnight Juggernauts) in his home state, Kirin J Callinan returns with the brand new 7” single ‘W II W’ (Way to War).

Taken from his forthcoming full-length album, ‘W II W’ launches with an amazing gif-laden video by acclaimed director Kris Moyes. The video was premiered by Vice US this morning.

Kirin J Callinan, with full band in tow, will launch ‘W II W’ across the east coast of Australia this June. See below for full dates. Tickets to all shows are on sale now.

‘W II W’ is a synesthetic joyride to the frontline – voice, guitar and other machines painting the sonic image of war. All napalm, machine guns and loneliness, choppers and tracer bullets; you could be running for your life or gasping for your last breath. It’s perverted, raw and fun, and it’s the first single from Kirin J Callinan’s forthcoming debut solo album.

‘W II W’ and its accompanying B-side ‘Thighs’, the thematically related, lustful and deluded tale of a sexual predator, will be digitally released worldwide on 19 June 2012 and on 7″ vinyl on 31 July 2012. A limited amount of pre-release vinyl will be available at the launches and you can also pre-order the 7″ here.
