Brooklyn’s eerily somber, lo-fi rock heros Woods will drench Australia with an extensive tour this January.
With a strikingly pure falsetto voice, Woods’ Jeremy Earl spills a twist of dark secrets and images within his songs.
After two early releases, Woods gained widespread critical acclaim with the release of ‘Songs of Shame’ in 2009. Since, escaping from their previously haunting acoustic albums, Woods combines deceptively sturdy melodies with off-kilter energy.
All seven albums have been released on Earl’s influential label Woodsist, which has released records from Real Estate, Kurt Vile and Sun Araw just to name a few.
Woods have just released their seventh album ‘Bend Beyond’ where Earl’s beautiful falsetto meets an unknown darkness of stuttered guitar and a collision of instruments.
January 2013 will see Woods bring their live show heavy with kraut-rock blackouts and distorting sound-scape journeys to Australia for the first time ever.

Kora will release their highly anticipated second album Light Years on Friday 26 October 2012 via Remote Control. The five-strong collective of fearless sonic explorers have discovered a whole new constellation of future-shocked funk, soul and r’n’b – dubbing it ‘alien funk.’
Light Years steps into the unknown on a bass odyssey, eschewing guitars in favour of a high-tech arsenal of synthesisers, live and sampled drums plus the otherworldly four-part harmonies of the brothers Laughton, Francis, Stuart and Brad Kora and brother-in-arms Dan McGruer.
To celebrate the crowd-funded release of their critically acclaimed album Crystal Theatre on vinyl, Belles Will Ring are excited to announce a special one off show on October 20th at Newtown’s The Vanguard where they will play the record in full.
Joining them will be iconic Australian band Knievel, who will be playing their classic record, ‘Steep Hill Climb’ from beginning to end.
In 2011 Belles Will Ring received wide critical acclaim for Crystal Theatre with Rolling Stone giving it 4 stars, Mess and Noise calling it a “sweet and terrifying…a moody, sprawling animal” and Drum Media declaring Crystal Theatre to be “a nostalgically brilliant album that’s ironically way ahead of its time.”
Belles Will Ring fans called for a vinyl release of Crystal Theatre and in December 2011 the band successfully crowd funded the money to print a limited edition 180 GSM vinyl edition in a gatefold sleeve.
Crystal Theatre is such a huge record in both scope and length that it took 6 months in total to get the vinyl pressed and it is with no small amount of elation that the band wish to celebrate this by playing the album live from start to finish for the first and only time.
Fans of iconic alternative rock band Sonic Youth take note; founding member and guitarist LEE RANALDO is heading to our shores with his band for two exclusive shows in Brisbane and Sydney.
These performances coincide with the band’s appearance at the Melbourne Festival and see Ranaldo taking the stage with band mates and friends, Steve Shelley and Alan Licht.
The highly acclaimed artist will be touring off the back of his new album Between the Times and the Tides.
Joined by an all-star cast including Nels Cline, Alan Licht, John Medeski, bassist Irwin Menken and long-time associate Steve Shelley, the album is equal parts smart, confident and loose in a manner that recalls some of the best rock ’n’ roll… yet still sounds like a fantastic new style.
These intimate shows are sure to enthral as Lee Ranaldo Band embarks on this Australian tour. Don’t miss your chance to see much-admired artist live in concert.
