Methyl Ethel sign to 4AD + announce ‘Australia’ tour

Methyl Ethel are incredibly excited to announce that they are the latest signing to the illustrious 4AD roster which currently includes The National, Grimes, Purity Ring, Deerhunter, Ariel Pink and many more.

After the release of their debut album Oh Inhuman Spectacle in June 2016 via Dot Dash / Remote Control Records the band has gone from strength to strength. First impressing music industry and fans with their incredible performances at BIGSOUND in September which inked them three (AUS, USA & UK/Europe) booking agent deals. The band then took their electric live show to New York playing CMJ in October impressing tastemakers and garnering international attention. 2016 saw Methyl Ethel embark on the national St Jerome Laneway Festival playing to huge crowds in each state.

U.S. Girls share video for ‘Navy & Cream’

U.S. Girls has shared her new video for ‘Navy & Cream’ prior to her debut Australian tour beginning this March. Check it out below!

Meg Remy will play headline shows in Brisbane and Melbourne. In addition, she has been announced as the support for Sleater-Kinney in Sydney and Melbourne and will also be performing at Divine Times as a part of Spectrum Now in Sydney. Get your tickets here.

‘Navy & Cream’ is the next track from Half Free to get its own accompanying video. Working with artist and animator Emily Pelstring, whose hand-drawn animations coupled with footage of Meg singing have been processed through various equipment like VJ software, a video projector, an antique video camera and an analog color-corrector before being mixed with a feedback loop on one channel and the original source material on the other to create a beguiling montage of screen-glare, echoing trails and softened edges.

Fat Freddy’s Drop share ‘Ten Feet Tall’ video

After releasing BAYS earlier this year, Fat Freddy’s Drop have shared a live video of the band performing the single ‘Ten Feet Tall’ live from Berlin!

On top of that the band have added a third show in Melbourne at The Forum on Catch the band performing in Australia this February. After sold out shows at the Sydney Opera House earlier this year, this will be their biggest headline tour of Australia to date!

Purity Ring share video for ‘heartsigh’

Purity Ring release their video for ‘Heartsigh’ directed by Cecil Frena & Alex Fischer. The video explores the incredible futuristic live visuals the band have become known for.

Impressively, the band designed the stage show/music video themselves–including the band’s costumes & Corin Roddick’s custom, state-of-the-art crystal mallet synth. In addition, the show/video incorporates an art installation called “Submergence” by the British art collective Squidsoup; which utilizes over 2500 immersive & interactive LED lights. The video also features choreography from L.A. based dancer Juliette Irons.

DIIV share new single ‘Under The Sun’

cole_blue_by_sandy_kim-2DIIV have shared a new single ‘Under the Sun.’ The single premiered on Pitchfork, finds DIIV at its most direct — its an immediate earworm that retains the band’s signature sonics while showcasing its most approachable songwriting to date.

The New York based four piece will visit Australia for the very first time in 2016 touring as part of the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival throughout February. The band will also play sideshows in Sydney on Tuesday 9th of February at Factory Theatre and in Melbourne on Thursday 11th February at the Corner Hotel with very special guests Totally Mild. Mac Demarco announces Australian tour supports

Mac Demarco and his band are set to return to Australia over the impending 2015 / 2016 festive season playing at Falls Festival in Byron Bay (NSW), Lorne (VIC), Marion Bay (TAS) and at Southbound Festival in Busstleton (WA).

In addition to these festival shows Mac will play three headline shows in Melbourne at 170 Russell on January 2rd, 4th & 5th and in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre on Wednesday 6th of January.
