TimHecker has revealed details of his latest album, and the first record to be released via 4AD / Remote Control Records. The Canadian composer will release Love Streams, on Friday 8April 2016.
Love Streams takes its cues from the avant-classical orchestration and extreme electronic processing of his previous full-length, 2013’s Virgins, but shaped into more melancholic, ultraviolet hues. Inspired by notions of 15th century choral scores (particularly those by Josquin des Prez), transposed to an artificial intelligence-era language of digital resonance and bright synths, the album was assembled gradually, with layers of studio-tracked keyboards, choir and woodwinds being woven into the mix, then molded and disfigured through complex programming. Like hearing some ancient strain of sacred music corrupted by encryption, Hecker admits to thinking about ideas like “liturgical aesthestics after Yeezus” and the “transcendental voice in the age of auto-tune,” during its creation.

Jamil Rashad, a.k.a Boulevards, has announced his debut album, Groove! will be released on Friday 1 April via Captured Tracks / Remote Control Records. He has also shared the first cut from the album, the insanely catchy ‘Cold Call.’ Listen to the tune below.
Taking queues from pioneers such as Prince, Rick James, and Earth Wind & Fire, Boulevards seamlessly delivers cheeky, party-themed jams. Growing up in Raleigh, NC, Jamil’s father, a R&B Radio DJ, exposed him to jazz, blues, and R&B. This pushed him to get involved in the city’s local music scene early on in his youth.
Jamil melds pop with vintage hip-hop elements — think Eddie Murphy meets The Sugarhill Gang — and it just works. ‘Cold Call’ introduces a slow hypnotic groove before a symphony of synths, creating a rhythmic cadence that stays with you even after the party is over.
Låpsley has shared her latest single ‘Love Is Blind.’
The song comes from the 19 year old’s debut album ‘Long Way Home’ on Friday 4th March via XL Recordings / Remote Control Records. The twelve track album features new versions of her previous acclaimed releases ‘Hurt Me’, ‘Falling Short’, ‘Painter’ and ‘Station’.
‘Long Way Home’ documents a turbulent time in Låpsley’s life — a period in which she revelled in her new-found music career as it took her from Liverpool to London to Los Angeles and back again “It’s an autobiography of my emotions and events over the past year,” she says. “Everything that’s happened, I’ve channelled in some way into a song – whether that’s the theme of a long distance relationship, or something that he’s said, or the way that I’ve felt, or an argument. I only revisit the memories of that relationship when I go into the studio. I think it’s helped me, to be able to collect everything for those moments when I’m writing. I think that’s what’s driven this album.”
Grimes has shared her video for ‘Kill V. Maim’ today! The live-action video was shot in Toronto and was directed by Claire and Mac Boucher. It features Grimes as a vampire, some crazy outfits and lots of blood. Watch the clip below.
