Remote Control and 4AD are proud to announce that LA based producer Lo-Fang(nee Matthew Hemerlein)will release his debut album Blue Film on February 21st 2014.
Classically trained in violin, cello, bass, piano and guitar, Hemerlein’s soulful falsetto floats above a rich blend of classical, R&B and electronic music, telling stories of love, loss, and deceit. The album was written and recorded during Hemerlein’s world travels everywhere from a farmhouse in Maryland to a hotel in Cambodia to studios in London and Nashville. He completed the album at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles with GRAMMY Award winning producer Francois Tetaz (Gotye, Kimbra, Architecture In Helsinki).
Noted filmmaker Grant Singer (Sky Ferreira, Kendrick Lamar, DIIV) directed the stunning two-part video for album track “Look Away” that premiered overnight via VEVO. The first half nodding to the op-art movement with the second half filmed in an abandoned mansion in the Hollywood Hills where Spielberg once shot scenes from Colombo.
Introducing Sunbeam Sound Machine, the moniker of 23 year old Melbourne musician Nick Sowersby.
Nick began writing and recording music in his mid-teens, singing and playing guitar in various bands over the past five years. He formed Sunbeam Sound Machine this year.
Sunbeam Sound Machine will digitally release their first Double EP on 29 November via Dot Dash / Remote Control.
Written and recorded at Nick’s parents’ Seaford home, first EP One is a raw-sounding, playful collection of songs. The self-titled second EP is more insular, dreamlike and cohesive, recorded at him homes in Fairfield and Collingwood.
Live, Sunbeam Sound Machine is a 5-piece outfit, expanding and improvising on the recorded versions of the songs.

Sunbeam Sound Machine play a residency at the Tote in Melbourne every Thursday in November (7th, 14th, 21st, 28th). Playing dreamy pop tunes from the forthcoming EP’s, Sunbeam Sound Machine will be supported by Nick Allbrook (Pond, Allbrook/Avery, ex-Tame Impala) at the first show tonight.
