‘Television Screens’ is a fine return for a band that has been making accomplished pop music for the past three years. A summery song about the addiction to dreaming, the track is laced with beautiful call and response vocal layers from Popov.

Hello Satellites will play a single launch in support of ‘Television Screens’ in Melbourne on Sunday 24th of November at The Workers Club. Full details and ticket information for the show can be foundhere.

84000 was recorded and mixed by Popov in collaboration with three of Melbourne’s finest producers,Nick HugginsJ Walker (Machine Translations) and Joe Hammond and is due for release in early 2014.

84000 is an album about our addiction to dreaming and the stories we tell ourselves – about delusions and what we use them to get away from. It’s about our physical bodies and how they house our perfection, our hollowness, our sexuality, our desire, our addictions and the search for freedom and connection.

The title – 84000 refers to the number of holes, or pores in the body according to Chinese Medicine. It also is an important number in Buddhism – the Buddha had 84000 teachings to remedy the 84000 afflictions, or delusions one could suffer from.

Hello Satellites – 84000 will be released in March 2014 via
Two Bright Lakes / Remote Control

bEEdEEgEE – DEBUT SOLO ALBUM FROM BRIAN DEGRAW OF GANG GANG DANCE

bEEdEEgEE is the performing alias of Brian DeGraw, an American artist, musician and producer who lives and works between the inner city and the Catskill region of New York state. Most commonly known in the world for his work at the centre of Gang Gang Dance and their musical mastery, SUM/ONE is his debut record as a solo artist.

Written and recorded over the course of a year in his Woodstock studio, the W0RMB1N, SUM/ONE fuses deep synth soundscapes with audacious pop moments. The nine tracks that comprise SUM/ONE also feature the vocal talents of Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Lovefoxxx (CSS), Lizzi Bougatsos (Gang Gang Dance) and Douglas Armour.

SUM/ONE initially began life when Brian left New York City – his home for the past fifteen years – for the clouds of Woodstock, and it was here that audio sketches evolved into a record that fuses deep synth soundscapes with audacious pop moments.

SUM/ONE will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally in Australia on Friday November 29.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE RELEASE ‘THE VAMPYRE OF TIME OF MEMORY’ INTERACTIVE VIDEO

Queens Of The Stone Age and The Creators Project, a partnership between Intel and VICE, have unveiled the interactive video for ‘The Vampyre Of Time And Memory’. This bold production, directed by Kii Arens and Jason Trucco and designed and developed by Darknet, re-imagines the classic music video in the context of a virtual art installation distinguished by horror, weird beauty, and surrealism, and pushes the boundaries of creative expression. More than that, Joshua Homme and the band’s commanding performance is simply not to be missed.

In addition to the tri-level interactive video, Arens and Trucco have a offered up a Director’s Cut incorporating elements of all three visual stagings:

The Vampyre Of Time And Memory,’ produced by The Creators Project, is another milestone in a banner year for Queens Of The Stone Age. From the jaw-dropping Boneface animated videos that heralded the release of the band’s Australian & US #1 album …Like Clockwork (Matador/Remote Control) to the still-going largest tour in Queens’ history – upcoming gigs include co-headline Australian tour with Nine Inch Nails.

NEW MICK TURNER ALBUM ‘DON’T TELL THE DRIVER AND VIDEO’

Mick Turner’s new album Don’t Tell the Driver is out today via King Crab / Remote Control.
You can stream the album right now via The New York Times.
With the help of his many friends, Mick Turner has turned over a powerful page of life and music with Don’t Tell the Driver. The album was recorded at Mick’s Melbourne studio ‘Big Moth’ over last 4 years.

The album is different from all other Mick Turner records – not just his own, but the ones he’s done with Dirty Three, Bonny Prince Billy, and Venom P. Stinger put together.  Don’t Tell the Driver is unarguably the first post-rock rock opera of our times. A record of our times by an artist running out of time.

Don’t Tell the Driver features heaps of help from friends, adding piano, melodica, Fender Rhodes, horns and vocals.

Mick Turner has shared a video for the meditative eight minute track ‘The Bird Catcher’, featuring the late and much loved actress/singer Karen Black in time for the release of his new album Don’t Tell The Driver.
