Fat Freddy’s Drop have released a live music video for new single ‘Silver And Gold’.

Shot on tour in Australia this November, the video features concert footage of the track at GRAPHIC Festival, Sydney Opera House (an epic affair billed as Blackbird: An Animated & Illustrated Album Preview), The Eclipse Festival in far North Queensland and sold out shows on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

“Truth is, we were lucky to get this footage home safely after having to wrestle salt water crocs and dodging an ocean full of stingers in the seasonal electrical storms,” Director Mark James Williams said.

‘Silver And Gold’ is the first single from the perennial soul shakers forthcoming album Blackbird out early 2013 via Remote Control. Since being released this November as a free digital download, ‘Silver And Gold’ has reached over 9000 downloads via and Freddy’s Soundcloud.

Fat Freddy’s Drop first emerged from the underground club scene of Wellington in 1999, jamming along to instrumental mixes of funk, house and hip hop records dropped by DJ Mu (akaFitchie) at parties around the Capital. Thirteen years later and Freddys arestill together, still doing things in their inimitable way and still getting better and better.

The bands debut album, Based On A True Story (2005), reached nine-times platinum and holds the record for the highest-selling album by a New Zealand artist in the country’s history. Renowned world-wide for their brilliant live performances and funky mix of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues, and techno, the band have played legendary shows at venues such as Brixton Academy (LDN), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Vega (Copenhagen), The Coliseum (Lisbon), Henry Fonda Theatre (Los Angeles) and Le Trianon (Paris).

An all-encompassing mix of blues, dub and dance music, Silver And Gold will also be available this month on limited edition 12” vinyl.
