Melbourne musician Chet Faker will release his debut EP Thinking In Textures in late March 2012 via Opulent / Remote Control.
Premiered today, ‘Terms and Conditions’ is the first single taken from the much anticipated EP.
Hailing from the tight-knit disco and house music scene in Melbourne and taking elements from an acoustic past, Chet Faker has carved out a unique style that fuses personal stories of love and loss with an electronica soul that reaches far beyond his homeland.
Shrouded in secrecy, hidden behind an alias and disguised by a beard, Chet Faker enjoys mystery. He came to everyone’s attention when his cover of Blackstreet’s classic ‘No Diggity’ hit #1 on Hype Machine, the worldwide indie music aggregator. But far from rushing into the limelight, Chet built on the popularity of ‘No Diggity’ through a series of tracks released online, creating an insatiable hunger from fans for more from this part jazz, part soul and part electronic artist.
Having recently performed in Los Angeles as a guest of KCRW’s heralded music guru Chris Douridas, Chet Faker is poised on the next phase of his development, supporting Toro y Moi and Washed Out in Australia and returning to the US in March to perform at SXSW.
Thinking in Textures will be released in late March 2012 on Opulent / Remote Control in Australia, Chess Club Records in the UK and Opulent in the US.
