JAMIE XX SOLO SHOWS ANNOUNCED!

Following the announcement of The xx’s new album Coexist and their upcoming Australian tour, which sold out in minutes, Handsome Tours and Fuzzy are pleased to announce solo shows for Jamie xx in Melbourne and Sydney.

Catch Jamie xx performing at New Guernica in Melbourne on Tuesday 17 July 2012 and at Goodgod Small Club in Sydney on Thursday 19 July 2012. Tickets for both shows are on sale at 9am AEST on Friday 15 June 2012 via www.moshtix.com.au and Moshtix outlets.

The past two years have been meteoric for Jamie xx, who has earned a name for himself as one of the world’s hottest producers. In 2011 he crafted the underground hit ‘Far Nearer’ and collaborated with Gil Scott-Heron on the album We’re New Here, a re-envisioned version of Scott-Heron’s 2010 masterpiece I’m New Here. We’re New Here features Jamie’s brilliant remixes of ‘NY Is Killing Me’ and ‘I’ll Take Care of U’, which was later reworked by Drake and Rihanna for their worldwide #1 ‘Take Care’.

Jamie xx has also garnered universal praise for his remixes of Adele and Radiohead, and The xx remix of Florence & The Machine’s ‘You’ve Got The Love’ was a massive internet sensation.

Jamie xx (real name Jamie Smith), along with his band mates Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft, formed The xx in 2005 at London’s Elliot School, the alma mater of notable alumni Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet. Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The xx’s unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences combine beautiful, hushed vocal duets and a brilliantly inventive use of samples and low-end frequencies to produce stark, sweet, melancholic pop.

Last week the Mercury Music Prize winning UK artists The xx announced the details of their forthcoming album Coexist, to be released in Australia on 7 September 2012 via Young Turks / Remote Control. Coexist was produced by Jamie Smith and was recorded between November 2011 and May 2012 in the band’s own studio in London.

Coexist is the follow-up release to The xx’s debut album xx. Released in August 2009, xx achieved gold sales in Australia, platinum sales in the UK, and accumulated over 1.3 million sales worldwide. The album has also been awarded the highly prestigious Mercury Music Prize, The Guardian’s First Album Award, Album of the Year by both Rough Trade Shops and XFM, and two South Bank and one NME Award nominations.

NEW VIDEO: FUTURE OF THE LEFT – ‘I AM THE LEAST OF YOUR PROBLEMS’

Rolling Stone have premiered Future Of The Left’s new video for single ‘I Am The Least Of Your Problems’, taken from new album The Plot Against Common Sense.

Lead singer/guitarist Andy “Falco” Falkous told Rolling Stone about the video:

“We wanted something claustrophobic and full of movement, but most specifically, something that would weed out the epileptics in the audience,” jokes Falkous. “In all seriousness, I have an undue fascination with strobe lighting, much to my bandmates’ extreme displeasure. When I was in college I bought a small one for ‘personal use’ and used to sit in my room writing songs to its largely similar patterns. They were great, if slightly disorientating, days.”
