Melbourne electronic outfit Northeast Party House return with their stellar new single ‘Pascal Cavalier’ and an east coast single launch tour.

Catch Northeast Party House launch ‘Pascal Cavalier’ at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Friday 13 July, Goodgod Small Club in Sydney on Friday 20 July, and Alhambra Lounge in Brisbane on Saturday 21 July. Tickets to all shows are on sale now.

Northeast Party House have also been announced to perform at the Big Sound conference in Brisbane this September.

Following on from their debut self titled EP, which delivered the tracks ‘Embezzler’ and ‘Empires’, brand new single ‘Pascal Cavalier’ is another big indicator that this band is on the move with an undeniable groove and energy. Produced by the band’s drummer Malcolm Besley, ‘Pascal Cavalier’ features a synth heavy chorus propelled by dual vocal hooks. The new track is custom built for sweaty club shows, dance floors and festival stages alike.

Set for digital release on 13 July 2012 via Stop Start, ‘Pascal Cavalier’ is the first track taken from the band’s forthcoming album, set for release in early 2013.

Since being ‘Unearthed’ by triple j back in 2010, Northeast Party House have been building a solid live fan base as a result of their high energy live shows. The band have wowed audiences at Falls Festival and Pyramid Rock Festival, and have supported the likes of Does It Offend You, Yeah?, The Go! Team and Kimbra.

THE XX AUSTRALIAN TOUR JULY 2012

The xx and Handsome Tours would like to thank fans for their overwhelming response to the band’s announcement of an intimate Australian tour this July, which went on sale through a ballot two weeks ago. The two shows at The Forum Theatre in Melbourne on Wednesday 18 July 2012 and The Metro in Sydney on Friday 20 July 2012 sold out immediately. Jamie xx solo shows also went on sale last week and sold out in minutes.

Demand for tickets to all of the shows exceeded everyone’s expectations and Handsome would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused throughout the ticketing process.

While no further shows will be added to the upcoming July tour, The xx and Handsome Tours would like to assure fans that plans are already underway for a larger return tour in 2013. To thank everyone for their patience and support all who entered the ballot will be offered priority pre-sale tickets to the 2013 shows once they are announced, so stay tuned for further information.

Last week the Mercury Music Prize winning UK artists announced the details of their forthcoming album Coexist, to be released in Australia on 7 September 2012 via Young Turks / Remote Control. Coexist was produced by The xx’s Jamie Smith and was recorded between November 2011 and May 2012 in the band’s own studio in London.
Coexist is the follow-up release to The xx’s debut album xx. Released in August 2009, xx achieved gold sales in Australia, platinum sales in the UK, and accumulated over 1.3 million sales worldwide. The album has also been awarded the highly prestigious Mercury Music Prize, The Guardian’s First Album Award, Album of the Year by both Rough Trade Shops and XFM, and two South Bank and one NME Award nominations.

The xx – Oliver Sim, Romy Madley Croft and Jamie Smith (Jamie xx) – formed in 2005 at London’s Elliot School, the alma mater of notable alumni Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet. Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The xx’s unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences combine beautiful, hushed vocal duets and a brilliantly inventive use of samples and low-end frequencies to produce stark, sweet, melancholic pop.

In addition, Jamie xx has crafted a name for himself as one of the world’s hottest producers, with his brilliant 2011 underground hit ‘Far Nearer’ and remixes for the likes of Adele, Radiohead and Gil Scott-Heron. Drake and Rhianna’s ‘Take Care’, a rework of Jamie xx and Gil Scott-Heron’s ‘I’ll Take Care of U’, was a worldwide #1 hit and The xx remix of Florence & The Machine’s ‘You’ve Got The Love’ was also a massive internet sensation.

DAVID BYRNE & ST. VINCENT TO RELEASE COLLABORATION, LOVE THIS GIANT

David Byrne & St. Vincent will release their album, Love This Giant in Australia on 7 September 2012 via 4AD/Remote Control.

Recorded over two years largely at Water Music in Hoboken, NJ, the album is a collaboration in the truest sense of the word, with Byrne and St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) co-writing ten of the album’s twelve tracks, and each artist penning one song individually. The album centers around an explosive brass band and is propelled by John Congleton’s drum programming. See below for complete tracklisting, and download album opener ‘Who’.

“There was no delineating what the roles were,” explains Clark of the recording. “It’s a collaboration I’m truly proud of.” The duo also split lyrical and vocal duties on the record, which despite eschewing a traditional guitar/bass/drums lineup in favor of idiosyncratic horn arrangements, presents itself as infectious and modern hook-laden rock.

Byrne and Clark met in 2009 at the ‘Dark Was the Night’ benefit at Radio City Music Hall and were approached shortly after by the Housing Works Bookstore to collaborate on a night of music. They began composing remotely, trading song ideas and structures online while Clark toured and it quickly became apparent that they had more than just one night of music in them. Byrne performed with Clark at her ‘American Songbook’ show at Lincoln Center in 2010, and Clark contributed vocals to Byrne’s Here Lies Love album, released the same year.

Tracklist:
1. Who
2. Weekend in the Dust
3. Dinner For Two

7. I Should Watch TV
8. Lazarus
