GALAPAGOOSE
COMMITMENTS ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR!

Melbourne beatmaker Galapagoose will launch his debut album Commitments in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide this month.

Galapagoose is Melbourne-based interdisciplinary artist Trent Gill. From a jazz theory background but with a distinctly DIY ethos, Trent’s musical creations take on many forms, from recording and composition, to designing studio hardware and computer software. He is well regarded in underground electronic circles for his developments in live performance-based software, focused primarily around the Monome. Though deeply multifaceted, Trent’s productions remain the central tenet of his output, harnessing a delicate soulfulness alongside brash experimentalism, with performances rooted in improvisation and spontaneous vocal sampling.

After traveling abroad throughout 2011 to tour with Young Magic (Carpark Records), of whom he produced the group’s debut album Melt, Trent found himself living in NYC. Through a serendipitous alignment, a joint performance with Daedelus occurred, laying the foundation for the release of Trent’s solo debut album Commitments on Daedelus’ own Magical Properties imprint and released in Australia through Two Bright Lakes in March 2012.

The debut full length album Commitments is available now on limited edition 12″ vinyl with handmade, hand screen-printed covers and digitally through iTunes and other online music outlets. Recorded in a flurry over a brief six-week period, the hypnotic melodies and psychedelic feel document the intensity of the moment, striking hard at the heartstrings. Already drawing plaudits from blogs and publications worldwide, and album of the week on hometown station Triple R, the album is sure to find its way into your consciousness in the coming months.

JOE MCKEE (SNOWMAN)
ANNOUNCES NATIONAL CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH BEN SALTER

Joe McKee, the former front-man of acclaimed group Snowman, is embarking on a co-headline tour of Australia this month with Ben Salter (The Gin Club, Giants of Science).

Snowman released two albums out of Perth – 2006s Snowman and 2009s violent masterpiece The Horse, The Rat & The Swan. Praise, wide ranging and effusive, came from all corners of the globe with the band touring around Australia several times and securing themselves first place in the Mess + Noise readers’ poll in 2008.

The band relocated to London where they gigged and slowly piecedtogether their third album Absence – a magnificent pulsing, wash of a record that would become their parting salvo. Two members moved to Iceland with child in tow, another firmly folded into the arms of Cambridge. Joe, always spinning in his own orbit, landed back in Perth with a collection of songs inspired by this process, by home, by London and by the catharsis involved in returning to a place you’ve tried so long to forget.

Now he is set to release his debut solo album, Burning Boy through Dot Dash / Remote Control. Recorded with long time collaborator Dave Parkin in Perth, Burning Boy was written in various countries over a three year period, all over the globe. Stay tuned for further album release details!

Joe McKee and Ben Salter, two veterans of the Australian music scene, are joining forces to perform a series intimate shows across Australia. Taking in six states and territories this could be the last time for a while that these two artists grace Australian stages. Don’t miss out.
