NED COLLETTE & WIREWALKER ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR

To celebrate the release of their much anticipated second album 2, set for release on Friday 11 May 2012 via Dot Dash / Remote Control, Ned Collette and Wirewalker will perform a string of album launches over June.

Russian-born, Israeli-raised and Berlin-based musician Mary Ocher will support all shows, with local supports to be announced.

It’s been over two years since Melbourne musician Ned Collette relocated to Berlin. Written mostly during Collette’s first year in the German capital, 2 explores themes of distance and restarting, taking up arms against the neighbours, fantasies of death and decline after the party, butterflies, salad, altering cities and forgotten home. The album also features an instrumental tribute to late Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño. Most of the album was recorded between Collette in Berlin and Joe Talia in Melbourne, with Talia spending six weeks in Berlin over May and June in 2011 to further expand on their recordings. Collette then came to Melbourne in October 2011 and finalised the mixes of nine songs, many of which have codas courtesy of Talia.

All tickets on sale Friday 20 April.

PERFUME GENIUS PERFORMS UNRELEASED SONG ‘KATIE’

Mike Hadreas, a.k.a. Perfume Genius, recently stopped by the New York-based public radio station WFUV & performed an unreleased song ‘Katie’.

Hadreas called the track “one of the heaviest songs that I’ve written.” He said it was a fun song to play, and then added, “Well, it’s not fun at all, actually. But sometimes ‘fun’ for me is feeling like I threw up backwards.”

NPR has the full song.  LISTEN TO ‘KATIE’ HERE.
