Celebrating its first birthday, 21 continues to hold the #1 spot for an incredible 26th week.
The 11 times platinum album was released on the 21st January 2011 and has topped the ARIA album chart for half of the past 12 months.
In doing so 21 passes John Farnham’s Whispering Jack to become the 7th most successful #1 album in Australian chart history.
In addition to the phenomenal chart success, Adele’s 21 has earned an impressive six Grammy Award Nominations including Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year for ‘Rolling In The Deep’.
Remote Control is very pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria ‘Sweetie’ Zamora as the company’s new Sydney-based Publicity Manager.
Sweetie arrives at the company with a wealth of experience having done time at Bossy, Vivid Festival and Warner, alongside presenting regular shows on FBi.
Remote Control’s Steve Cross and Harvey Saward comment: “We’re really knocked out that Sweetie is joining us. We were looking for someone who is a huge music fan and Sweetie lives and breathes it.”
Sweetie joins the company at an exciting time. Adele’s 21, the biggest selling album in Australia in 2011, was released exactly one year ago and still sits at #1 on the ARIA chart. 2012 looks likely to see amazing new albums by The xx, Cat Power and Vampire Weekend and there are already ripples of excitement about many new artists on the label, including Grimes, Alabama Shakes, Howler and Chet Faker.
Sweetie takes over from Ankia Peou in looking after New South Wales, Queensland, ACT and national based media. Nicole Jones continues as Melbourne-based Publicity Manager, servicing media in other states and Vanja Bezbradica works with online media outlets.
After releasing All Eternals Deck to critical acclaim last year The Mountain Goats will be bringing their unique brand of American indie storytelling to Australian audiences once again, playing six dates in May 2012.
All Eternals Deck is an eclectic mix of inspirations ranging from century old painting to 70s cult films, singer songwriter John Darnielle explaining that the tracks “cluster around themes of hidden things and the dread that hidden things inspire.”
Recorded across four different studios each with different a producer, All Eternals Deck demonstrates how different seasons, moods, producers and locations play out into song and confirms that John Darnielle is one of the most innovative and creative songwriters of this generation.
