KATALYST NEW SINGLE – ‘CLAPPING SONG’

KATALYST NEW SINGLE – CLAPPING SONG
featuring COIN LOCKER KID

Katalyst presents ’The Clapping Song’, the new single taken from his forthcoming album Deep Impressions and set for release 16 Sept 2011.

‘The Clapping Song’ features long-time collaborator Stephanie McKay (NYC) on the chorus and introduces Coin Locker Kid (North Carolina) as the MC. The track is an adaptation of the original, made famous by Shirley Ellis in 1965.

Whilst the contemporary lyrics have a serious undertone, ‘The Clapping Song’ is a very vibrant and playful tune, featuring the vocal talents of 18 year old Coin Locker Kid who draws heavily from his own experience with his mum passing away when he was 16.

The horns and Hammond give the track a traditional feel with the production bringing it right up to date for 2011. It was recorded by Katalyst in Sydney at the same session he recorded his Jack Johnson remix.

Deep Impressions is Katalyst’s third full length album and his most impressive work to date. Deep Impressions deconstructs and distils soul, hip hop, funk, jazz, reggae and electro influences into what is perhaps most accurately described as ‘the Katalyst sound’.
